Recent Podcast Episodes That Have Impacted My Life

This episode has had the biggest impact on my life. Ironically I was using social media a lot less naturally and stumbled across this episode by chance. It’s quite an intense listen with some quite extreme views but I’m really glad I listened to it and agree with a lot of it. I don’t think social media is a good place for all of us and perhaps not at certain times in our lives. It’s become such a constant which I think is the problem. Our worlds revolve around it and it’s almost impossible to run a business without social media nowadays yet these two women Jane Clapp and Brooke Thomas, the host of Liberated Being, discuss how and why they are turning there backs on it for good. Jane Clapp describes it as “stepping out (of social media) in order to be in her integrity.”

How Social Media Is Changing Us with Jane Clapp - Liberated Being Podcast

This episode has had the biggest impact on my life. Ironically I was using social media a lot less naturally and stumbled across this episode by chance. All The Small Things by Venetia La Manna with Pandora Sykes

All The Small Things is a new podcast hosted by my dear friend Venetia La Manna. All the episodes in this season are definitely to be added to your to listen list but I wanted to highlight this one with Pandora Sykes as I just found it really refreshing, honest and relatable. I specifically related to Pandora’s thoughts on perfectionism and time management. There’s lovely reminders throughout such as “tidy desk, tidy mind” which really does make a huge difference but there’s also some really profound insights into ways Pandora looks after her mental health including only checking Instagram once a week on a desktop. Something I’ve been doing since.

Pandora describes being on social media like having lots of buzzy voices in her head which feels the same for me, she explains how we are constantly confronted with how other people are living their lives which makes us question whether the way we are living our lives is right. And I quote her “discipline is a simple decision when the alternative is not an option”. That idea is everything because as humans I do believe we will go back to things that are bad for us even when we have the knowledge and the understanding and it’s discipline which we need to train. I’ve requested to borrow Pandora’s book How Do We Know We’re Doing It Right? from Venetia and can’t wait to dive in.

Understanding Your Period and Female Health with Maisie Hill - Deliciously Ella

I’ve been delving into this topic for a few months now and have dipped in and out of Maisie Hill’s book Period Power as well as read In The Flo by Alisa Vitti. Maisie and Ella have a really informative conversation about periods, from the different stages we go through from when we start our periods to when they stop to what’s happening with our hormones. I believe that getting to know your cycle is one of the number 1 things you can do for your health if you are a person who menstruates. If you aren’t ready or want to read a full book on this topic then I’d recommend listening to this podcast as a great starting point.

The Truth About Fitness and Keeping Your Brain Healthy with Dr Tommy Wood - Feel Better, Live More with Dr Rangan Chatterjee

Quite a lengthy episode but one that’s perfect for a long drive or long walk/run. There’s so much covered here surrounding the topics of brain health from two really down to earth and approachable experts. Too many take aways to mention from how just 40 minutes of brisk walking per week is enough to make a difference to our mental and physical health to how the best thing you can do for your fitness is learn how not to fall over to how we must keep learning new things that we find hard throughout our lives. They talk about how when we are young and learning in school, we find so many things hard and we constantly using our brain muscles but once we become adults we don’t do that anymore and that’s so important. It makes so much sense. A lot of what they say makes sense and is excellent no nonsense advice; really recommend this listen.

5 Gorgeous Retreats on LMP’s Radar

I have been lucky enough to have taught on and hosted many retreats in my Pilates career so far and after having my son Sebby in 2023, we ran two retreats that year in Cornwall and Tuscany with Sebby strapped to me in the carrier. However, I knew I had to put a little pause on them after that and am excited to run some again in the future, I’m thinking 2028 (lol) so save the date hehe!

Turning 33

I turned 33 last week on the 16th January 2025. This is not one of those posts where I tell you all the things I’ve learnt in 33 years. Mainly because honestly I feel like I am just getting started. 33 really is still young isn’t it? Isn’t it? I love how long life hopefully is and all being well I am only just over a third of the way into it. “In 2022, the life expectancy at birth for women born in the UK was 82.57”* I’m aiming for 100 but I’m also not obsessed with it.

The top 3 books I read in 2024 and why

Sitting here in the corner of my bedroom while my son Sebastien naps in the bed. I was reading my book for a while while he napped. It’s Talking At Night by Clare Daverley and I’ve very very nearly finished it but I’m doing that thing where you drag a book out because you’ve enjoyed reading it so much you don’t want it to end. It’s reached by top 3 books of 2024. Here’s why plus the two other books I highly recommend you read.

5 cute and comfy activewear looks for 2025

As a Pilates teacher and founder of online virtual studio/App LMP, you won’t be surprised to learn I have a lot of activewear. I feel best in comfy loungey but well put together looks rather than sporty workout wear. I think my wonderful members and followers feel the same as I get asked where I get my activewear from quite often. I wanted to start doing some journal posts with my fave looks in.
