Discovering ALL The Cute Coffee Shops And More In Bath

Oh Bath where have you been my whole life. Following on from my blog post last week about my very cosy stay at the new hotel spa No.15 Great Pulteney, I thought I'd share with you where we ventured to when we did leave the hotel- it mainly involves food and coffee but with the sun shining we also couldn't resist wandering the streets of Bath city and taking an early morning dip in the rooftop pool at Thermae Bath Spa. Of course Natalie and I hunted down all the cutest coffee shops and foodie spots in 24 hours. So here's a list of where we went; if you know you're just like us and find yourself in Bath craving a matcha latte and a long lunch at the best vegan restaurant then save this post now...

Getting There: Great Western Rail

So firstly, how easy it to get to Bath from London and why do I not do it on a monthly basis? I mean I'm seriously considering moving there and commuting one day. After picking up the must have Pret porridge at London Paddington, we were comfortably cosied up with our laptops and books for just an hour and a half before coming into Bath Spa in the heart of the city.

Caffeine Stops: Society Cafe, Colonna and Smalls

Our first stop was Society Café and we headed first to the smaller one of the two in Bath on a corner very near the station and overlooking the stunning Bath Abbey. I don't know why but I was pleasantly surprised to see they had matcha lattes and with the option to have my favourite Oatly milk. I know we were only an hour and a half out of London but I genuinely thought Bath wouldn't be so hip and happening. And it doesn't get more hip and happening that Colonna and Smalls, the coffee shop we went to get our hit on Friday. I mean just check out the baristas top knot in the photo below. I also realise that the more I say "hip and happening" the less of that I actually am. Colonna and Smalls is not just a coffee shop but an education into the art of drinking coffee itself. As I sipped my flat white I read up on how the optimum temperature to heat your milk to for a latte or cappuccino is 60C degrees. These guys know there stuff so let them help you choose from the weekly changing coffees.

The Best Veggie Food: Beyond The Kale, The Acorn Restaurant

So if you go anywhere to be convinced that plant based eating is exciting, delicious and creative then the these to gems we ate at in Bath are the places to go. Beyond The Kale is a rustic vegan cafe with an array of colourful yummy options to feast your eyes on as soon as you walk through the door. Natalie and I had the mixed salad plate and bought ourselves some raw chocolate goodies to enjoy back in our hotel room. I feel like this was just the warm up for The Acorn Restaurant the following day where we were completely spoilt. My tastebuds are literally firing up now just thinking about the roasted butternut squash creamy risotto with hazelnut butter, all vegan! It was hands down one of the best meals I've ever had. You can read my top five best meals ever here.

Boutique Shops: Found,

Bath is also full of independent shops and I picked up some gorgeous little cups from Found which is an original shop full of undiscovered brands. Next door is Pulteney Bridge Florist which gives you an uplifting mood boast just by walking past it. We also strolled a little outside the city centre the following day and discovered so many more pretty little stores. I want to go back to do a Calligraphy workshop at Merticulous Ink.

After posting on Instagram while we were there, I received so many messages recommending loads of other amazing places Bath has to offer to so I'll definitely be booking another trip there this year and might even explore a little into the beautiful surrounding countryside. I forget how lucky we are in London to have such beautiful nature a stones throw away. Check out the Visit Bath website for more wellness and wellbeing things to do too.

5 Gorgeous Retreats on LMP’s Radar

I have been lucky enough to have taught on and hosted many retreats in my Pilates career so far and after having my son Sebby in 2023, we ran two retreats that year in Cornwall and Tuscany with Sebby strapped to me in the carrier. However, I knew I had to put a little pause on them after that and am excited to run some again in the future, I’m thinking 2028 (lol) so save the date hehe!

Turning 33

I turned 33 last week on the 16th January 2025. This is not one of those posts where I tell you all the things I’ve learnt in 33 years. Mainly because honestly I feel like I am just getting started. 33 really is still young isn’t it? Isn’t it? I love how long life hopefully is and all being well I am only just over a third of the way into it. “In 2022, the life expectancy at birth for women born in the UK was 82.57”* I’m aiming for 100 but I’m also not obsessed with it.

The top 3 books I read in 2024 and why

Sitting here in the corner of my bedroom while my son Sebastien naps in the bed. I was reading my book for a while while he napped. It’s Talking At Night by Clare Daverley and I’ve very very nearly finished it but I’m doing that thing where you drag a book out because you’ve enjoyed reading it so much you don’t want it to end. It’s reached by top 3 books of 2024. Here’s why plus the two other books I highly recommend you read.

5 cute and comfy activewear looks for 2025

As a Pilates teacher and founder of online virtual studio/App LMP, you won’t be surprised to learn I have a lot of activewear. I feel best in comfy loungey but well put together looks rather than sporty workout wear. I think my wonderful members and followers feel the same as I get asked where I get my activewear from quite often. I wanted to start doing some journal posts with my fave looks in.
