We are a quarter into the year already- can you believe that! It feels like yesterday that we were filling our instagram feeds with “New Year New You” inspiring quotes. As we move into the second quarter of the year, I thought it would be a good time to reflect over what a whirlwind but fabulous 2015 has been so far.
As I was reflecting, I realising everyone is just so busy. Too Busy! Frazzled busy, flustered busy, too busy to call nan busy! This year has seriously been one of my best years yet but I always feel like there’s never enough time. There’s always something to do, places to be, people to see but I can’t see a way out of it. I’m one of these people who will be coping fine, coping fine, coping fine and then all of sudden have a breakdown, cry my eyes out and lose all perspective. Within an hour I’m coping fine again.
It’s all exciting fun busy things and I think deep down I crave this busyness. If my phone isn’t buzzing with new emails then I’m like ohhhh! However, there does need to be a balance. We are obsessed, especially in London, with being busy. It’s normally the first question you ask someone you bump into right?
“Yes, soooooooooo busy!”
Why being busy isn’t cool…
1. Everyone’s busy.
2. You don’t have a clue what’s going on in your whatsapp group conversations.
3. You always start email’s with “sorry for my slow response”
4. You haven’t cleaned your fridge, oven, top shelf in goodness knows how long.
5. Your standard times for email replies are 11pm.
Being busy doesn’t mean you are winning at life or succeeding. It doesn’t mean you are an important person. I personally don’t want the word “busy” to define my life. Last Thursday, I went to get bin bags from the newsagents and saw a “Look” magazine and I couldn’t remember the last time I’d bought a fashion/gossip magazine and sat with a cuppa tea and just read it for no reason. I feel too guilty nowadays as there’s always so many other things to be doing. It lead me to go home and amidst packing up my entire house I filmed this little video…
