I thought I’d catch up with my girl Natalie Glaze just before she jetted off to Ibiza this weekend to find out about her top tips for staying healthy, having fun and being a total babe during her travels! I’ll be joining her in Barcelona in a couple of weeks for a few days of yoga, mountain climbing and I’m sure lots of laughter! Natalie chooses nuts over aeroplane food and has Santorini on her dream holiday list, read on below and follow me and Natalie to keep up to date with our travel snaps.
What’s your go to meal/snack at the airport?
For me I always pack a pack of nuts so I have some protein and healthy fats to keep me full and stop me snacking on aeroplane food. Then often will carry a healthy bar or treat to snack on. Not forgetting a bottle of water as its so important to stay hydrated while travelling. I picked up a good tip last year and thats to bring your own tea bags when flying then you can have your favourite herbal tea variety on the plane.
Do you do any major beauty or body prep for a trip?
Coconut oil is my pre holiday essential, I use it on my face, my hair and as a body moisturiser to make sure my skin is nice and soft for my trip. Also exfoliation and a great manicure is always a good way to make you feel ready for your holiday.
Talk us through your morning routine on holiday
Depending what kind of holiday it is, either I will get up and exercise whether it be a gym trip or a run then I shower and sit down for a good breakfast. Breakfast is SO important to me so thats definitely the key part of my morning. I love being able to sit outside in the sun and eat delicious healthy food. Then its suncream and bikini time of course.
Beach or swimming pool?
Is it ok to say both? Ha I love relaxing by a pool with a good book but I also love exploring new beaches. My perfect holiday combines both, best of both worlds right?
How do you stay healthy on your travels?
I am lucky enough to be able to incorporate fitness and travel lots by going to lots of amazing health retreats. These are one of my favourite kind of trips as you get to get away, relax and re charge but also workout and eat healthily so you come back feelings amazing. For me the perfect holiday is one where you are active and health/fitness plays a big part. When I go away for a none fitness trip I always make sure I incorporate some kind of activity such as going for a jog down the beach front, going to the hotels gym for a quick workout or even a hike. I am all about balance so there would definitely be a few indulgent meals and cocktails on the agenda too….naturally.
Where is the most magical place you’ve been?
If you follow my blog and instagram you will know I am in love with Ibiza, I don’t know what it is about the island but every time I go I fall in love. Its definitely my happy place and although its known for the partying the health and fitness side of the island is HUGE. There are so many healthy eateries, amazing places to do yoga and pilates and hike. So yes so far Ibiza for me is magical.
Your dream holiday destination?
Ooo this is a tough one as I have the biggest list. But I have always wanted to visit Santorini as it looks stunning and then the Maldives and Bali. I can’t choose but any of those three would be the dream!
Three things you can’t travel without?
A good book- I am an avid book lover and I love a great holiday read, escapism at its best
Great swimwear- nothing like the perfect bikini or one piece to make you feel amazing on the beach or by the pool
Trainers- a good comfy pair of trainers so I can explore/ move
How do you fight holiday blues?
Book another holiday haha I joke (kind of) I used to be someone who lived for my holidays but now I try and come back and be positive. I always keep myself really busy when I first come back from a holiday so I am not just moping around with holiday blues. Make sure I hang out with family or close friends always helps you feel better about being home. As much as I love being away and traveling nothing beats a good cup of tea and catch up right?
