If you follow my Instagram stories you’ll know that my life is very on the go and during the week I could be teaching clients, teaching at press events, attending launches, meetings, working out, catching up with friends etc; so I tend to work from coffee shops for a few hours at a time. Over the years I’ve potentially got a bit picky with my coffee and freelance life has enabled me to find my little wifi spots to hang out and get cosy with my laptop. My environment is key when I’m working whether it’s smashing through emails, writing a blog post or organising my retreats, I like to be around a buzz of creative people all working on their own projects. I rarely work from home but when I do I’m way less productive and the coffee isn’t so good. You’d be surprised who you get chatting to working this way too. I’m usually in Central London between Fitzrovia, Covent Garden and The City. I’ve rounded up 8 of my fave places to hang out, enjoy some granola or avo on toast and a cup of coffee (don’t forget the oat milk) and get my laptop out! You won’t feel uncomfortable either as I guarantee the person next to you will have there’s out too…
Timber Yard – Covent Garden
Probably my number 1 place to go with your laptop in Covent Garden so make sure you’re there early to grab a window seat looking out onto Monmouth Street. They also have a big sofa which is tempting but I usually slouch down into it and get far to comfy to work. The atmosphere is chilled yet busy.
Order- Iced Matcha Latte and Beetroot Hummus and Avocado on Toast
Beany Green Cafe – Broadgate Circle
My grab a coffee on the go and whizz out a few emails place in the city. An Australia cafe on Broadgate circle literally next to Liverpool Street. Sit outside in the sunshine rather than inside. You’re surrounded by Coffee Dorks rather than laptops here so I tend to work from my phone but they are welcoming all the same and the coffee is gooooood!
Order- Banana Bread and Black Coffee
The Hoxton – Shoreditch and Holborn
I love to work at both the Shoreditch and Holborn hotel. Slightly overwhelming when you walk in but once you find a spot and get settled you’ll feel right at home. You can literally hang here working all day and not feel like you should be kicked out.
Order- Green Juice and Granola with Coconut Yogurt and oat milk cappuccino when you realise it’s been 4 hours and you’re not actually at home.
Tap – Tottenham Court Road
My newest find and new LOVE! I potentially could say this is the best coffee I’ve had in London. I need to buy some of there beans. Small and quaint but still perfectly acceptable to work from here with your laptop for the morning or afternoon. I think the food here is really reasonably priced too. I’ve got into a little habit of ordering walnut banana bread post workout! This place is an absolute sun trap in the morning too.
Order- Walnut Banana Bread or Sourdough and Oat Milk Cappuccino
The Detox Kitchen – Fitzrovia
The Mortimer Street one is perfect for getting your head down and working. Reasonably quiet apart from breakfast and lunch time so I like to chill here mid morning or afternoon. I feel like this is my real get in the zone place to work. I teach Pilates here Tuesday mornings and host events with The Detox Kitchen so it feels like my little work place at the moment. The food is just a dream as well.
Order: Fresh lemon and ginger tea and the beetroot brownie
The Grind – London Bridge
There’s various Grinds around London and I was so happy to find the one on Royal Exchange however the place to be is the London Bridge one. You do have a limit of wifi here though, I think about 3 hours but I love the decor and you can even just sit at the bar. This is marble table heaven too!
Order: Matcha Latte and Granola Smoothie Bowl
Taylor Street Baristas – Bank
I think they have a couple but the one I know and love is in Bank. Another place I can happily drink black coffee. I’ve only been here a handful of times but have always felt like I’m in my own little world. I don’t think many people know about it and it’s mainly people having meetings from the city but I felt happy to sit and work there. The music on a Friday afternoon definitely gets you in the mood for the weekend too!
Order: Black Coffee and Bliss Balls
