My New Year Resolutions 2018

lottie murphy new year resolution post 2018

Hey guys, happy belated new year. It always takes me a few days to adjust to the new year. New Year’s Day is a bit write off for me and I always feel slightly weird; like I should feel different just because it’s a new year. Really it’s only the day after the 31st December. Plus the over consumption of alcohol the night before doesn’t help that feeling of blurgh (more on that later.) I don’t think I’ve ever really done a new years resolutions blog post and I didn’t actually think I’d even make any this year but I’ve been thinking a lot this first week in January, uh oh! A little reflective perhaps but more about what would really make a difference to my life, to me. There’s a lot of self help material around this time of year which I’m all for dipping in and out of for inspiration but it sometimes takes us a little off track. Oh that girl on Instagram is going to meditate for every day in 2018 I better do that too or your best friend has signed up to do a new hardcore gym and convinced you to join her, but are these resolutions the best for you

Breakfast At Farmacy With Daisy London And Crystals

I was honoured to be asked my one of my favourite jewellery brands (Citrine Birthstone), Daisy London, to be one of the ambassadors for their new healing stones collection. I represent the Rose Quartz pendant which is the crystal of unconditional love and has a subtle pink complexion. I absolutely love it and have been wearing it every day. To have a healing stone that is said to carry a soft, feminine energy of compassion and tenderness around my neck daily is really special and reminds me to always choose love over fear. I got together with the Daisy girls at Farmacy in Notting Hill for a morning of teas, coffee, avocado on toast, pancakes and to talk all things crystals…

My Top 8 Coffee and Laptop Spots in London (and they do oat milk!)

coffee shops london blogger

If you follow my Instagram stories you’ll know that my life is very on the go and during the week I could be teaching clients, teaching at press events, attending launches, meetings, working out, catching up with friends etc; so I tend to work from coffee shops for a few hours at a time. Over the years I’ve potentially got a bit picky with my coffee and freelance life has enabled me to find my little wifi spots to hang out and get cosy with my laptop. My environment is key when I’m working whether it’s smashing through emails, writing a blog post or organising my retreats, I like to be around a buzz of creative people all working on their own projects. I rarely work from home but when I do I’m way less productive and the coffee isn’t so good. You’d be surprised who you get chatting to working this way too. I’m usually in Central London between Fitzrovia, Covent Garden and The City. I’ve rounded up 8 of my fave places to hang out, enjoy some granola or avo on toast and a cup of coffee (don’t forget the oat milk) and get my laptop out! You won’t feel uncomfortable either as I guarantee the person next to you will have there’s out too…

Don’t Waste Another Moment

lottie murphy dont waste another moment blog post

When a chapter of your life ends, don’t be sad because it’s over, be happy because without that chapter, you wouldn’t have a story to tell.

Someone once told me that something wasn’t meant for me but that I should hold on because I was someone that had to be sure and ready and wait for the right time. This felt like the most unloving thing I could possibly do so I ignored them. I didn’t wait a moment longer.

Why waste another moment of this life…

Work, Life And The Bit In Between I Treasure

work life balance lottie murphy

There’s a very blurry line between my work and my life and this line is becoming blurred for more people around me. The world we live in today allows us to create the careers we want. It’s not just bloggers that need to share an insight into their lives anymore but entrepreneurs, business owners and brands are also sharing behind the scenes, where they go for lunch and what they are wearing to the gym. When I first started my blog and sharing things on social media, none of my home friends were really into it yet now most of them are building personal brands and becoming kick ass business women and men in their own field. It’s amazing! The power of social media really is changing the world but what is it doing to our lives…

Wellness Tips To Keep You Going Until Christmas

neom-x-sb

So we are still a good solid nine weeks away from Christmas and honestly I’ve been feeling a bit like I just want this year to be over so I can have a fresh new year ahead of me. I had to give myself a little talking to as I am not one to wish time away and I know I don’t need a fresh year or even a new week to start living to my fullest and achieving some goals. So for the last quarter of the year we can choose to get lazy and succumb to the Christmas slump or we can pull ourselves up, make exciting plans and feel the best we’ve felt all year because why not? So here’s some ways I think we can end 2016 feeling healthy, happy and ready to start 2017 ahead of the game…

Why I Meditate And Simple Tips To Start Today

benefits of mediation lottie murphy beach

I must admit I am someone who was a little sceptical of meditation to start with but after various attempts at Take 10 and the Deepak Chopra’s 21 Day meditations I started to feel the benefits- if only I could find those 10 minutes every day! It’s something that’s definitely moving up on the priority list now and after a weekend teaching Pilates at The Retreat Collection Yoga And Pilates retreat, where we did lots of different meditations, I was inspired to fully commit to a daily practice again. The main difference I notice is that I am calmer. In general my mood is enhanced, my energy levels improve, I make better choices, I feel more certain, I am more productive and more aware of my surroundings. So why and how am I meditating today and find out a few amazing tips so you can start too…

Being A Girl

Being a girl. Being a girl is hard. Here’s some of the daily questions and worries that go on in our heads or maybe it’s just me. Am I over reacting to a situation or genuinely annoyed? Am I too sensitive or being true to myself? Should I meditate and do yoga or get ahead with my emails? Was it that little bit of dairy or the fact I’m stressed that’s made me bloated? Shall I stay up and watch another episode of Kardashian’s or get 8 hours sleep?

Why We Are Moving From A Dream Home After Just 9 Months

If you’ve followed my blog for a while then you’ll know that back in February, my boyfriend and I moved in together and bought our lovely little nest. You can read my post “I’ve Flown The Nest” to see my feelings towards it then.

I thought I was someone who as long as I had a roof over my head and a cosy bed would be content. And don’t get me wrong I am so so grateful for the fact I have this but I’ve realised that your home environment and features about your home are so important for your overall happiness, wellbeing and relationship.

Our home would be a dream for many people. It’s in a lovely road, has gorgeous unique features, tons of storage, 3 bedrooms, a gorgeous kitchen, dining room and lounge and a good sized garden in the sun but we are moving! Why? Because we don’t like it! So there is a little bit more to it than that which I will explain later in the post but I’ve realised something that I’m so grateful for which is that both Jamie and I are very in tune with our feelings and sense of wellbeing and I know he might hate me for saying that but it’s true. We aren’t scared to say what is bothering us and then do something about it. We aren’t sit around and wait things out people we are DO it and CHANGE it people if things aren’t working. Which is why after only 9 months, our house is back on the market…
