Do I Drink Alcohol?

lottiemurphy decaf coffee alcohol blogpost

Since I’ve started to openly talk about drinking and not drinking I’ve had a lot of responses from girls saying they loved the fact I was talking about it and they felt more confident to say they weren’t drinking in social situations so I wanted to do a little update.

A friend once told me when I think of you I literally picture you with a glass of red in your hand. Red magazine once wrote an online piece of me which described me as being just as likely to have a green juice or a glass of wine in hand (wine from https://hauslerwines.com.au/).

At the start of this year I wanted to stop drinking.

A Day In The Life

lottie x monsoon lifestyle

Like lots us today, I have many different hats to wear when we comes to my “job”, putting that in quotation marks because I don’t see myself as even having a proper job. I have a life and a career and the two are very much entwined. I’m all about work/life balance and as a Pilates instructor and lifestyle blogger, there’s definitely no 9-5 or even Monday to Friday work week. I might be teaching, organizing events and retreats, writing, shooting, reviewing restaurants, attending a press launch, meeting brands and photographers, researching, travelling and within that I love working out, cooking, seeing my friends etc, so a day in the life doesn’t really exist but a typical day might look something like this.

Create Your Own Honest Garden Pilates Sanctuary

Last week I was lucky enough to teach perhaps one of my favourite classes to date as a Pilates Instructor. It was at The Honest Garden which was a little pop up on the Southbank for Honest Tea which are a super yummy organic cold tea brand. They have launched three new flavours including my favourite lemon and honey (I mix it with spirulina at home which is so much nicer than water.) It was one of the most beautiful days in London last Friday, blue skies, a speckle of clouds, very warm, a light breeze and all at 7am!! It wasn’t cold at all! We overlooked the Thames and St Paul’s and got down to practice on our mats.

Baked Eggs and Beans With Mushrooms, Spinach and Quinoa

I’ve always been random in the kitchen and perhaps in life but mainly in the kitchen. I love making something out of nothing and will always try to make the most out of what ingredients I have left at the end of a week. This is where the famous one-pot comes in handy, if I’m in a rush/impatient then the one pot stays on the hob and usually has a base of whatever veggies I’ve got left then quinoa, lentils or rice, lots of flavour from spices and herbs then either a big scoop of houmous, a sprinkle of nuts and seeds, a side of guacamole or eggs. When I’ve got a little longer I prefer to use the oven and baked eggs are my fave…

Delicious Nut Roast Recipe

delicious nut roast recipe

I of course love to get in the kitchen this time of year. I’m going to my aunties this Christmas and I thought it would be nice to bring something to add to the table. I usually make desserts but this year I’m taking a nut roast. I haven’t eaten meat in a while and to be honest it’s all the trimmings that are the best bit about a roast in my opinion. So I’ve been experimenting with a nut roast recipe and have mastered it with this delicious version. The eggs, nuts, cheese and brown rice in this nut roast are great sources of protein and I also added butternut squash, basil and tamari for a flavour boost…

What I’ll Take Into My Life From Our Retreat

Last week I was lucky enough to be in Ibiza with Our Retreat for a week of training, healthy food, hiking, yoga, Pilates and sunshine. I taught the guests Pilates but was also able to fully immerse myself into the retreat too and soaked up lots of new information. I was really inspired to come back home and take things from retreat life into my busy London life. We can always keep learning, growing and trying to better ourselves especially when it comes to health and wellbeing; this retreat came at a perfect time for me and I wanted to share some nuggets of retreat life with you, check out my vlog too…

September Update

lottie murphy september update

I thought it would be nice to start doing a monthly post about some things I’ve been up to and maybe some things I’ve been loving too. I get asked a lot of questions about my daily life and what I actually do day to day so these posts will be a bit of an insight into the life of Lottie and also a nice way for me to reflect on my month and the fun things I’ve done as I do really struggle with the whole snapchat thing. I will try to get better at vlogging behind the scenes at events and photo shoots so will start sharing those in these posts too. So September…

3 Simple Sunday Food Preps

sweet potato lunch

Food prep is key to staying on track during the week and Sunday’s are my favourite days to get organised. I thought I’d share 3 simple things I prep that really help me out in the week when I don’t have much time. This time of year I make sure I keep my motivation by prepping my meals and planning my workouts. As the mornings get darker and the evenings get chillier it’s get’s a bit more of a challenge not too ditch the sweat session for an extra hour in bed and avoid having 3 hot chocolates a day right?

Vanilla Matcha Smoothie

matcha maidenI’m sure you’ve heard of matcha by now especially if you live in London; you can grab a matcha latte at most of my favourite cafes in the city now. So why are people choosing matcha over coffee for their energy fix? Well matcha does still contain caffeine but less than coffee and where the caffeine in coffee gives you a hit of energy very quickly; the caffeine in matcha is released slower giving you more sustained energy. It also have 137 times the antioxidants than a normal green tea as the whole green tea leaves are ground into a fine powder. I love this powder form as I can enjoy my beloved lattes at home and also add it to smoothies and even bliss balls. Here’s my new favourite vanilla matcha smoothie…

A Spontaneous Week In Ibiza | My Top 6 Places To Eat And Chill

ibiza babylon beach club

As you know from my previous post, at the end of July I was in need of a week off, chilling in the sun with a good book and no wifi. The opportunity arose that we could book a very last minute week away. We started searching looking online and it was so exciting knowing that wherever we chose we’d literally be there in three days. I’m so used to counting down three or four months before; my South Africa trip was booked almost a year in advance and I even had a laminated itinerary just to give you an idea of how I usually holiday…
