A Sunday well spent brings a week of content and when it also involves winning a parsley plant in an egg and spoon race on Regent Street it brings a lot more than that. If you’ve read a couple of my recent posts you’ll know that I’ve been trying to make more of my weekends and find more of a work/life balance. Sunday’s in Summer should certainly not be for boring admin and loading the washing machine, they are for getting out and about and making the most of the day whatever the weather. So last Sunday I popped along to the second week of the Summer Streets festival on Regent Street to get involved in some of their health and wellbeing celebrations…
I spend a lot of time walking on Regent Street normally to and from meetings or erm… shopping, one of my favourite activities but it was so nice to come to the street to celebrate my higher priority passions health and wellbeing. There was such a nice atmosphere on the traffic free street as all the pop ups were setting up and the live music started. We thought we’d check out everything that was on offer first and walking up and down the street helped me reach my 10k Fitbit target before 1pm!
It was so lovely to see families and friends having fun, being silly and active together and of course I had to get involved with the egg and spoon race, even in my suede boots I went for it. My parsley plant prize now sits proudly on my kitchen window sill. All the racing and walking definitely worked up an appetite and as you know I’m all about balance so the next stop was white chocolate covered strawberries from Godiva.
There was lots of yoga, spinning and bootcamps classes to join in along the street but I was in the mood for some R&R and popped along to the Kiehl’s On Wheels for a free skin consultation. I was really happy to discover their Ultra Light Daily UV Defense which is SPF 50. I’m becoming a lot more interested in sun protection and know how important it is to wear SPF on your face everyday, this one felt so light compared to others I’ve tried and a really nice base for make up.
Of course their was still time for shopping and their were so many amazing offers, freebies and activities going on in the stores. I couldn’t resist the gorgeous stationary section in Kate Spade and purchased a cute little notebook to add to my 100+ collection! What is it about notebooks?!
The sun was beaming by 3pm and we headed to one of my favourite courtyard’s for an alfresco lunch. If you haven’t been to Heddon Street courtyard, you absolutely must. It’s a secret foodie haven just off Regent Street with one of my favourite restaurants Momo but today we went for the veggie buffet at Tibits. It’s very tempting to get carried away piling your plate high but it’s priced by the weight so just be aware so you don’t end up with a £40 lunch, by all means very delicious!
There’s still time to enjoy this unique experience of Regent Street with two more Summer Street Sunday’s to go, there’s a Garden Party theme on the 17th (it’s set to be 24 degrees and sunny FYI) and a Magnum Fashion experience on the 24th. If you do pop along then you must enter their fab competition to be in with winning a £1000 shopping experience on the street! All you need to do is share you best snap of the day to @RegentStreetW1 on Instagram or Twitter using the hashtag #MySummerStreets and share it with me too!
