It’s that time of year again when I overhear so many conversations about people going to drastic measures to lose weight for holidays, weddings etc. It’s okay, I get it! We’re post Easter and post the first May bank holiday and it kind of feels like you need a kick start again and set some serious resolutions that are basically the same as the new year ones you set 4 months ago. I hear ya! I’m still trying to kick my sugar habit! Let the guilt go, try to avoid setting yourself unachievable goals like smashing a 10k run every morning and approach your journey to beach life in an easy breezy self loving way with my go to lifestyle habits for healthy happy body. Having guilt is not healthy so take a deep breathe and start a new day…
How many times have you started a restrictive diet on a Monday? “Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.” – Albert Einstein
The following simple habits work for me when I want to feel better in body and mind. Most of them I do all year round but some weeks a few slip and that’s okay. As someone that’s struggled with my relationship to food and my body in the past these suggestions with no calorie counting, no overcomplicated training plans or restrictive diets are what I go back to when I’ve slightly overindulged for a few weeks.
When I want to feel nourished and light again I know I don’t need to lock myself away and only eat carrot sticks. Eating a low calorie, super strict, pure clean diet can only be done for a short period of time and I don’t believe it’s a healthy method of weight loss or weight management. Feeling my best is a daily balancing act. I would say I’m a 90/10 girl, okay maybe 80/20 when there’s wine and chocolate around, which is always…so yeah let’s go with 70/30. But when that ratio slips even more, I simply remind myself of these lifestyle habits and make nourishing my mind and body a priority.
It’s okay to have a goal of feeling confident on the beach in a bikini as long as you don’t let it take over your life. I’m going to Greece in two weeks for a trip of life time paddle boarding and kayaking and hiking and I want to feel strong and healthy and full of life for being active all day so I the next two weeks I’m going to keep this in mind when I’m tempted to stay up late, skip a workout to get more emails done or eat half a batch of raw brownies because I know that’s not choosing my health or happiness.

Some of the above might seem really obvious but take charge of your health, maybe choose 2 or 3 to really focus on this week and most importantly do things that make you happy. That really make you happy. That might not be so obvious so take your time.
