I’ve only ever done a one day juice cleanse before back in March (read my post here) which I really enjoyed and found pretty manageable apart from physically missing chewing food! I said I wanted to give a 3 day one a go and felt that half way through summer was a great time to go for it. This time I was lucky enough to review the Juice Fast with Nosh Detox.
Just to confirm I wasn’t doing a cleanse to lose weight and I generally don’t think that this should be the main reason for anyone doing a cleanse however I like the thought of giving my digestive system a little break and gut time to heal and as a way of getting my skin glowing mid summer and to balance out a few alcohol filled weekends!
This was a fruit cleanse too which I was a little sceptical about due to the concern of too much sugar however the great thing about it is the smoothies are whole pieces of fruit blended with super foods and water. Nosh do not separate the juice and pulp! “Fresh Fruit fibre keeps you fuller for longer and the fibre releases the fruit sugars slowly unlike pasteurised concentrated juices.” Nosh
Note: Due to the fact the juices were just blended fruit, I did decide to eat some avocado and some leafy greens each day too. This is because I know my body and I have relatively low body fat so it’s important for my hormones to eat good fats every day. As I am not strict with any detox or cleanse I do, I believe this was important.
“Every day, we eat things we shouldn’t and come into contact with all sorts of toxins without even knowing it. We are not designed to deal with this sort of overload and can become backed up. Our systems then start to fail. Doing a detox allows your body to catch up and process all of that build up bringing your body into homeostasis or balance.”

The first thought I normally have when I wake up is… BREAKFAST- MMMM! This is what I had when I woke up and then realised oh actually I have a ginger and lemon tonic and then aren’t supposed to drink my first smoothie until 11am eek! However after my hot water and lemon, a nice shower and a little down time watching the news, I didn’t feel hungry or like I needed breakfast at all. I felt energised and ready to get to work. This taught me that maybe jumping out of bed and eating breakfast straight away isn’t always right for my body.
At 11am I have ‘Principle 1- The Rehydrator’, all the juices are named and have the time on the bottle when you should drink them which definitely helps as when doing a cleanse, it’s good to know exactly when your next juice is coming! This actually contained coconut cream, grapes, bananas and mandarin and tasted pretty good. I then had the ‘Principle 2- The Elimnator’ at 1:30pm which contained berries, grapes, lemons and acai. I like the fact that some of the juices contained superfoods too. By 3pm, I was feeling a little headachy so decided it was a good time to have my avocado half which definitely helped.
I was teaching Pilates all day and noticed that by my last 3 classes I actually had more energy, felt more alert and gave a lot more to my clients. However, when I got home that evening at 8:30pm I really needed that last smoothie and then felt before I went to bed I needed another half avocado and finished the day with a warm lemon water and manuka honey.
Day 2 was a lot more up and down. I felt a little tired but I think that’s because of the heat and I didn’t sleep too well the night before. I’ve not felt hungry at all and towards the end of the day I really became aware of how important water is. During the cleanse you are advised to drink 2-3L of water a day as well as green tea so be prepared to be peeing a lot but I think the cleanse really makes you become aware of the difference between hunger and thirst.
I must be honest, I feel like the amount of blended fruit made me a little gruely in the stomach and as there wasn’t much green in the juices today- I decided to have just half of my last juice and a big plate of green veggies as well. So I had cabbage, spinach, broccoli and courgette with some flaked chilli, lemon and lime juice.
“Our body is in essence, and in reality, primarily made up of water.”
Exercise: 1 hour mat pilates class
By day 3, I still wasn’t finding it difficult at all. I think my body adapts pretty well however I was generally just missing food. As I am so healthy anyway and absolutely love making whole fresh meals, I felt a little low and bored due to the fact a big part of my life was actually missing which is preparing and enjoying my healthy recipes.
I had the first 2 juices as normal and lots of green tea but by the afternoon, I had lost the will to continue and decided to swap my 3rd juice for a raw sandwich from Raw Inspiration at Planet Organic. I’m only human! That evening I was teaching late until 9:30pm and couldn’t bear the thought of only drinking juices for the rest of the day. I have a very active lifestyle and due to this juice cleanse being pretty low calorie, I believe I had to just listen to my body!
Exercise: Walking around town.
Overall, I really enjoyed doing something different and changing my routine a little with what I eat. I definitely felt cleansed and fresh. I still don’t know how I feel about juice cleanses. I think they are perhaps great for some people but not for everyone. Nosh do another cleanse which is a vegetable one which I would perhaps of preferred but I would definitely recommend the fruit cleanse if you are new to healthy living! I loved how I felt on day 1 so I think I’ll stick to one day juice cleanses and perhaps do one every other week. As always, it’s about experimenting, listening to your body and figuring out what’s right for you.
Let me know if you have any other questions about this cleanse I done, I love hearing from you.
And thank you Nosh Detox!
