I recently had to write a biography for Cosmopolitan Online as I’m doing some freelance writing for them (eek) I never thought that I’d be asked to write for one of my favourite magazines when I was younger although I’ve always been so passionate about writing. I just didn’t think I would be good enough and as a young ambitious dancer I was going in a completely different direction. Dreams can change especially as you go from your teens to your twenties and if those dreams you had as a young girl aren’t your dreams today or didn’t come true, then find new dreams! The bio had to be short, get to the point and show who I really am. This is what I wrote…
“I believe you create the life you want and have so far done the best job I can of that and spend my days teaching Pilates, writing my blog, creating videos for my YouTube channel and I get to meet incredibly inspiring people along the way. Which in other words means, taking photos of me doing bendy stuff for Instagram and spending all my money on matcha lattes in coffee shops planning my next adventure abroad! You’ll often find me with a red wine in hand on a Friday night and green juice on a Saturday morning. Balance is my middle name!”
Obviously it’s a bit of a fun bio and I do work extremely hard but it never ever feels like work! I believe in myself (not every day but most) and I dream BIG! I’ve still got so so many goals and ambitions and sometimes never feel good enough but when I look back to where I was 3 years ago to now, I forget how far I have come and writing that bio really made me feel a little proud for the first time. I constantly feel like I can be better and achieve more but I’m learning to love the journey. I love my life, my work is my baby and I can’t imagine doing anything else. It’s the most amazing feeling when you know you are on the right path in life and everything just syncs.
4 years ago, I was working in retail, doing promo jobs and even tried a few months in a girl-band but nothing felt right until I started to make a decision to do what I love every single day. No more waking up and dreading a day at work, my favourite things were going to my Bootcamp Pilates class, cooking healthy food, shopping, being on camera, making people happy and spending time with fun people who made my soul feel good. I made these things my work!
I would love to be a presenter one day, have a TV show, to write a best selling book but I’m going to be happy every step of the way and not be afraid to dream big. I know I’ve got a long way to go to where I want to be but I’m never going to stop dreaming as big as I can. I’m happy today and I’ll be the same happy in 10 years time whether I’m doing exactly what I’m doing now or I’ve achieved all my goals.
It’s never too late to dream big! It’s so important to have a vision of where you want to be and know what you want from life otherwise you can just float along, years go by and you realise you’ve been stuck. Dreaming helps you get unstuck! So many people, I feel, get into their adult life and forget that they can still do anything and be anything they want to be. Dream bigger and bigger, keep climbing and create the life you want. It really is up to you! It’s not too late, it’s never too late!
Dream big, stay positive, work hard and watch it happen!
Love, Lottie x
