I know the last thing you want to hear before Christmas is to be healthy, sugar free and balanced with what you eat. Believe me, I have been and will certainly be tipping the scales of my balanced lifestyle in the other direction over the holiday season. It’s time for all the years tension to melt away. With all the chocolate I consume throughout the christmas week, the turkey dinner, the sandwiches, meals out and naughty puddings I think breakfast is my one chance to give myself a balanced healthy nourishing meal. If it all goes downhill from there then at least I’ve given myself some goodness eh.
So I thought I’d share with you the latest smoothie I’ve been enjoying, it’s packed full of vitamins, omegas, good fats and superfoods. The MACA makes it very energising, the chia seeds means its filling and hydrating and cinnamon adds a hint of warming christmas spice. It’s the best smoothie to get you through a busy morning watching christmas movies till lunch. 😉
- 1 medium banana
- handful of blueberries
- tsp chia seeds
- tbsp flaxseeds
- 2 tbsps oats
- 2 tsps honey (I like it a little sweeter at christmas)
- tsp cinnamon
- tsp maca
- water/milk to blend depending on how thick and creamy you like it
Combine all ingredients in a blender and pour into your favorite cup to drink. I’m topping mine at the moment with a tbsp of christmassy cranberry granola.
