I’m all about living life on my own terms which is why I’ve created a career around my ideal lifestyle but a gorgeous long morning routine is not always possible or realistic every day. At least once a week, usually at the weekend, I try to have a more leisurely morning exploring new passions and hobbies, without emails or an endless to do list. This week I’m exploring with my new handy love in a cup, Nescafé Azera Coffee To Go, which has inspired me to make the most of life even more. There’s something about coffee lovers, we get each other, which is why I’m sharing my special recipe with them, coffee lovers can get the low-down right here because I love you all. It’s the little things that we must remember to find adventure in; a good book, a new walking route or the smell of coffee. Here’s what my magical morning looks like…
Set An Alarm
As much as its a luxury to not have anything to hit snooze for at the weekend, an alarm really helps me get going at the weekends. If I don’t set an alarm and end up snoozing till 10am, I find it so much harder to get myself going. My bedtime on a Friday/Saturday night is around midnight so I’ll set my alarm for 8am.
Let The Light In
The next thing I do is open the curtains and windows letting the sunshine fill my bedroom. There’s nothing more energising and rejuvenating in the morning then sunlight and fresh air! I then make my bed and go find a favourite spot with a good book, sometimes that’s back on top of the covers! I can’t laze under the covers once I’m up as it makes me feel groggy!
Read For An Hour
I always have about 10 books on the go but sometimes weeks can go by without me fully committing to reading one. Reading is part of my magical morning routine because I always feel so much better after an hour with my head burrowed in a book. I love getting lost in another world before jumping into my own. To do list you can wait, I’m catching up on a beautiful love story.
A healthy breakfast is a must every day for me at the weekend I love to really go for it especially if the next part of the day involves being active. The best pre workout breakfast, for me, is something like rye bread topped with cashew butter and banana or scrambled eggs and avocado- a combination of carbs, protein and healthy fats. I always lay everything out on the table and love to take my time eating and make sure my breakfast is digested before getting my trainers on.
Take A New Route
It’s then time to grab my Nescafé Azera Coffee To Go and get outside. Feeling more energised and ready for adventures, I’ll take a new running route or even jump on the tube to walk or run around a park I’ve never been to before. Being active and outdoors simply has to be part of my magical morning. You’d be surprised how much you haven’t yet explored close to home and I usually find a spot for some fun yoga and Pilates poses for Instagram of course.
9 Minutes To Feel Inspired And Free
I have recently been trying a new meditation which I’ve been doing almost every day and it’s the final part of my magical morning. It’s not about stopping thoughts or becoming all zen like, it’s just the loveliest way to spend 9 minutes! It’s inspired by wellness coach Tony Robbins and you spend the first 3 minutes thinking of 3 things you are grateful for, the next 3 minutes you think about any problems or worries being solved or any injuries/illness you have being healed and the last 3 minutes you spend manifesting 3 dreams coming true. This normally goes on for way more than 3 things because it’s so fun!
