Last week I was in Paris for two days for a green urban retreat with Botanicals Fresh Care, the new green hair care brand from L’oréal Paris infused with plant extracts and free from silicones, parabens and colorants. Over the two days I got to not only absorb the brand but eat lots of delicious organic plant based food, plant tulips and sunflowers at Place de la République, make flower hair chains and stretch it all out in yoga. Oh and I almost forgot, interview the most beautiful woman in the world Doutzen Kroes- yes she does Pilates! I vlogged the trip which you can watch below, I’m still trying to get better at vlogging so bear with me…
We stayed at the Renaissance Paris Republique Hotel which was perfect. Really central and one thing that I randomly really loved was that they didn’t do a buffet breakfast. You had to order breakfast from menu because they wanted everything to be really fresh. I’m a sucker for eating way too much that I don’t need at a hotel buffet so this made a nice change. You might not agree with me on that one haha but I’d rather have more room for macaroons!
I love staying in hotels on my own and was occupied with the lovely hamper of Botanicals Fresh Care products left for me on my arrival as well as our Green Urban Retreat Itinerary. They has a lot in store for us. It was so wonderful to meet other bloggers from across Europe too!
That evening I tried the Coriander Strength Potion which comes in the cutest bottle with a pipette. I learnt that word on the trip and am now using it all the time by the way. Pipette- great word! The packaging is definitely worthy of a bathroom Instagram snap too but the reason isn’t with Instagram in mind. The dark amber bottles protect the formulas inside from light damage.
The event itself was so much fun and we spent hours going from one workshop space to the next finding our better nature with Botanical enthusiasts. My favourite of the evening was making floral crowns with Harriet Payne, made even better with a glass of champagne!
Half way through the event I was whisked upstairs for my little chat with Doutzen Kroes. Firstly she is insanely beautiful in real life too. I’ve now met two Victoria Secret models, Karlie Kloss being the first and they really do have something so captivating about them. You simply can’t stop staring at them! Doutzen, like Karlie, was so down to earth and lovely.
Doutzen has two children and jets around the world between shoots and fashion weeks. She seems to have the perfect life, body, family but I was surprised to hear that, like many of us, struggles with the pressure of social media. Of course with 5 million instagram followers, it must be pretty daunting putting up a picture but Doutzen said how she thinks about her mum or her doctor seeing what she posts and that always makes her think twice. I think this is good reminder to everyone to think before they post!
We also chatted about beauty, hair, food and fitness of course! She loves Pilates for her posture and core and told me she always tries to put her Pilates practice into everyday life by pulling her tummy in throughout the day. Doutzen’s sister is a healthy food blogger, Ren Kroes, so she takes inspiration from her with her cooking and eating and tries to have vegetarian days. Sleep and nourishing food are her most important factors when living such a busy lifestyle and travelling so much.
A good hair day to Doutzen is essential to her confidence even more so than make up. So Doutzen’s opts for a hair mask rather than a face mask and her favourite range from Botanicals Fresh Care is the one infused with geranium, full of antioxidants and great for radiance.
Now the food is always the best part of a trip right and Paris didn’t disappoint. We ate local and green at Nanashi Paris and Grand Coeur. That tiny little artichoke crisp was to die for! I could have eaten 10! I’ll definitely be back.
Thank you for a lovely two days in Paris Botanicals Fresh Care. I’m so excited for the launch in the U.K.
Love, Lottie x
