You’ve probably seen this grey watch/bracelet/secret agent looking device on my wrist in my pictures recently. No, I’m not a secret agent (sometimes I pretend to be though) it is infact a Misfit Shine and at the end of this post I will show you how you can WIN one in my first official giveaway competition which I am so excited about. Before that though you probably want to find out what is it, why I’m addicted to it and how it can work for you!
Ahh to live a healthy balanced sustainable lifestyle without an effort in the world would be the ultimate goal wouldn’t it? I hear and see with so many people that it’s just so much effort and hard work to be healthy, active, and have good quality sleep. You probably think that it’s easier for me, and that if only you had more time, flexibility, space, money then you’d be glowing, fit and have 8 hours sleep every night. Hmm, unfortunately even as a pilates instructor, healthy lifestyle blogger and self employed person, it’s still not easy! I live in the 21st century and in London people!
Anything to make life easier to be healthy and more exciting is always much appreciated and that’s where Misfit Shine comes in. Misfit Shine is a fitness and sleep tracker and I was lucky enough to be sent one recently. Getting enough sleep and exercise are two of the most important factors in maintaining a healthy strong immune system and this time of year is when we really need to do the best we can to protect ourselves against the winter colds/flus!
So how does it all work other than looking super cool?
Uses the latest technology to sync to your smartphone
Tracks steps, swimming, cycling and hours of sleep and restful sleep
Allows you to set goals and see if your on track throughout the day
Also a snazzy light up watch
No charging required (I’ve never had a fitness tracker before but apparently this is a great hassle free function)
Why I’m addicted?
I just found the whole thing so much fun. From setting up the app on my phone to tapping my wrist to see lights flash up relating to my movement to waking up and instantly checking to see how much restful sleep I’ve had. As I do a pilates and yoga a lot, it’s a shame it doesn’t track that because I’m sure that would make me fly over my goal every day but it really made me aware that we seriously need to MOVE more. Three days a week, I’m up town so walking to and from the station and around London, made me go way over my target every day but at the weekend and even days where I drive to the Pilates Studio and teach all day, I was struggling to hit my goal. Seeing only half your lights flash up by 5pm can be a little disheartening but encourages you to go for an evening walk/run and even encourages you to walk up the escalators more hehe.
It’s definitely not just a step tracker though as it tracks calories, distance travelled and sleep. The sleep tracker is another really fun element and something I love, coming from a holistic health point of view! Sleep is vital for our health! I set myself a goal of 7 hours a night as I feel this is the amount I need. Of course, Misfit Shine isn’t going to force you to stop browsing instagram, close your eyes, quiet your mind and have a deep sleep but again it definitely motivates you to do so!
Personally I am fine with not hitting my goal every day but if your a perfectionist this could be dangerous! You can wear it anywhere on your body and I think it looks great with any look. I even wore mine with a little number to a party the other night- I couldn’t not track my dance moves!
So, if you’re looking for a little help to jump start 2015 on the right step (pun intended) or are generally just really interested in tracking your movement and sleep then Misfit Shine should go on your wish list!
