My One Day Juice Cleanse Experience with Fruveju

Glowing skin, improved mental focus, weight loss and improved digestion are just some of the claimed benefits of doing a juice cleanse. Juice cleanses are everywhere and have been for a while now, I’d not really looked into them until recently as I thought perhaps it was just another fad diet but after researching a little more, talking to friends and becoming more open minded, I thought I’d give one a go.

Check out my… Little Instagram Video on the day

I don’t believe in diets and as you know if you follow me, my ethos is to live a healthy balanced sustainable lifestyle to promote wellbeing and happiness. Lots of people promote incorporating juice cleanses or simply drinking a juice a day into your lifestyle. Claiming that the juiced vegetables and fruits aid detoxing and ridding the body of toxins. A juice floods the body with vitamins, minerals, enzymes and plant based protein without having to work hard to digest. So I thought it’d be pretty fun to get this surge of healthiness and luckily Fruveju sent me there 1 day Explore Cleanse to try.

My Lululemon Mat Moves Class / Video Lean Legs Workout

Last Saturday I taught my Mat Moves Pilates class at the Lululemon showroom in Covent Garden. My Mat Moves class is a whole body conditioning class and incorporates Pilates exercises with traditional ballet barre exercises transferred to the mat. The class works deep intrinsic muscles that you never knew existed and aims to improve flexibility, posture and core stability to give you that long lean sculpted physique!

I was so excited to teach at the store as I love Lululemon’s activewear (I own 4 pairs of there leggings already- they are the best!) I was really looking forward to becoming part of Lululemon community especially as they are soon to be opening a new permanent store on the famous Long Arce.

Mother’s Day Gift Ideas (it’s the thought that counts)

Heads up- Mother’s Day is Sunday 30th March. This is one of my favourite days of the year because Mums are pretty awesome and this whole day is dedicated to celebrating how great they are and thanking them for all they have done. Isn’t it so wonderful how everyone believes that there mum is the best mum in the world. It’s true, your mum is the best in the world, as is mine and every other mum out there because they truly would do anything for you, you come first no matter what and no matter how naughty you are, how much you let them down or disappoint them, they will love you unconditionally and that is the beauty of a mother’s love.

No matter what you budget on Mother’s Day, I think what makes a gift or gesture really special is the thought and time that has gone into it. A mum knows if you’ve popped to the shop late on the Saturday night before to get a card and bunch of flowers you know! You’ve got three weeks, so there’s some time to have a think about what your mum would really appreciate from you this year. Below are some ideas on what to send your mom for Mother’s Day.

The Most Perfect Weekend and What I’ll Take From It

I am so lucky to have a big family and I am at my most happiest when surrounded by them all. Last weekend 18 of us went for a long weekend away to The Peak District where we stayed in the most beautiful huge house in the middle of nowhere surrounded by breathtaking views, valleys and the odd local pub.

One of my favourite things about the break was our morning walks. We’d wake up and ,before breakfast, all go on a country walk together with the dogs. It was so uplifting and also calming to be surrounded by so much nature and to walk with no plan or time limit but to just explore and experience the moment.

It almost made me start to think I’d love to live somewhere like this one day, to be able to have this precious time every morning, to breathe fresh air, walk past boars and hens and discover secret waterfalls but the reason it was so special is because I am a city/suburbs girl through and through.

Although, I think I’d like to go on more walks at home. I do walk a lot but it’s always to get from A to B. Do you ever just walk for the fun of it? It’s my quarter year resolution. We have Greenwich park so near so I’ll start there, it is a lot nicer in the spring so I can’t wait for spring to come and I’ll get my walking boots on. Okay perhaps walking boots is a step to far!

Another thing I loved about our weekend away was the fact I didn’t watch TV or go on my Ipad once in the whole three days and I didn’t miss it one bit. Instead we entertained ourselves and just enjoyed each others company. We played cards, articulate, charades, hide and seek, back to base, make believe dragons den…yes I know and it was the most fun I’ve had in ages.

I’m going to try to have a games/cards night a few times a month. Why not! Doesn’t everyone love Christmas games but I swear that’s the only time the games come out in the whole year. Kind of like pancakes and Pancake Day!

Why do we limit the good things in life! Let’s abandon those limitations. Be a kid, be silly, dance for no reason, walk with no direction and love your loved ones unconditionally.

Here’s a video of our weekend away and my beautiful family. Filmed and edited by George Rose.

A Conversation with…Holistic Health Coach Lydia McCall

Let me introduce you to Lydia. Just like me, Lydia promotes a healthy happy lifestyle in mind, body and spirit. Lydia trained with The Institute of Integrative Nutrition and now sees clients on a one to one basis and creates personal programmes to support their individual goals.

Hi Lydia, tell us a little bit about yourself?

Why I Love and Eat Chocolate! (Yes you read that right)

Hands up! I am a chocoholic! I’m not addicted to it and I could definitely go without it but quite frankly I don’t want to! I don’t touch sweets, crisps, donuts or biscuits and never even crave sugars like that but I do LOVE chocolate! I mean it just makes me feel goooood!!

I’m talking dark choc! 80% plus or even raw if I can get it, my favorite is Santa Barbara Chocolate vegan baking chocolate, It stands up great to heat in the oven (no white exterior, that’s so weird) and its just as good straight from the package! And thank goodness that studies are starting to show that there are some true health benefits to eating chocolate. I’ve had the trouble of falling asleep for a long time. Neurologists prescribed me treatment and sleeping pills Ambien specially for me. The treatment helped me, as I expected at Though, I still had problems and had to attend a neurologist. In an article on The Huffington Post UK experts claim it can even help you lose weight. I believe that’s down to dieters including a small amount in there diet as a treat which then wards off any cravings for other sweet or salty foods. Now my personal intention isn’t to lose weight but I don’t mind another reason to keep eating it. So why else am I loving chocolate…

What I’m Loving- Tabata!

Tabata- sounds like a kind of dip for carrots and breadsticks but no no in fact it’s a pretty awesome type of fitness training. It’s so simple but effective and I’ve been loving it recently to give myself a heart pumping, short but sweet workout.

The method is 20 seconds training followed by 10 seconds recovery and then repeat 8 times, giving you a 4 minute intense cardio hit.

You can do as many rounds as you like and use a range of different cardio, training, weight or even Pilates exercises. Performing high-intensity workout can lead do cramps at times, so make sure to performs stretches before and after. You can read this review on zoe bray cotton and her yoga fat burner programme to find out how performing yoga can also help you burn your stubborn fat. My personal favourite and killer high intensity exercise to do for Tabata is burpees and if you don’t know what a burpee is then you can find out here.

“Doing as little as 4 minutes (or one “Tabata”) can increase your aerobic capacity, anaerobic capacity, VO2 max, resting metabolic rate, and can help you burn more fat (and make you look 200-percent leaner) than a traditional 60-minute aerobic workout.” Shape magazine

How to ‘TO DO’

You may now address me as ‘notepad girl’. I am without a doubt always carrying a notepad in my bag and I have done for as long as I could write. Ever since I had a journal in school, I’ve felt the need to write everything down and make endless ‘to do’ lists. Now do not mistake this for a sign that I am a super organized person because this is far from the case. No matter how much I try to organize my life on paper, it never seems to go to plan in reality.
