Want to find out Electra Formosa’s favourite places to eat, things to cook and how she keeps her skin so gorgeous? Keep reading…

I’ve followed Electra on social media and watched her beauty and fashion Youtube videos for a while. We met at a healthy lifestyle event last month where we took a yoga class and talkedĀ juice cleanses and LA dreams, I wasn’t surprised that she is as glowing, happy and positive in person as she is online.

Electra is in the fashion and TV industry but is also passionate about healthy living and lives a beautiful balanced life along side busy London Fashion Weeks, presenting for Disney and styling in LA. I was sure Electra would have some great tips to share with us so read her inspiring interview below to find out a little more…

What I’m Loving- Tabata!

Tabata- sounds like a kind of dip for carrots and breadsticks but no no in fact it’s a pretty awesome type of fitness training. It’s so simple but effective and I’ve been loving it recently to give myself a heart pumping, short but sweet workout.

The method is 20 seconds training followed by 10 seconds recovery and then repeat 8 times, giving you a 4 minute intense cardio hit.

You can do as many rounds as you like and use a range of different cardio, training, weight or even Pilates exercises. My personal favourite and killer high intensity exercise to do for Tabata is burpees and if you don’t know what a burpee is then you can find out here.

“Doing as little as 4 minutes (or one “Tabata”) can increase your aerobic capacity, anaerobic capacity, VO2 max, resting metabolic rate, and can help you burn more fat (and make you look 200-percent leaner) than a traditional 60-minute aerobic workout.” Shape magazine

My Yoga Experience

My first experience with yoga was Bikram yoga and I can definitely say it wasn’t love at first pose. The room was way to cramped, the stifling heat and repetitive poses weren’t for me. I know that a lot of people are hooked on Bikram but I needed to continue my search to find love.

I left my yoga practice for a while as I fell more in love with Pilates and my teaching training however after qualifying as a Pilates instructor and teaching/doing hundreds of classes I felt I needed to move my body in a different way and take a class where I wasn’t in ‘teacher mode’. This is when an amazon deal for 10 yoga sessions at Yotopia Yoga in Covent Garden came up and I thought perfecto lets get going again!
