Top 5 Pilates Moves for Spinners/Cyclists: SPORTS SERIES

I am a true believer that we should do lots of different styles of training and not just stick to the one type. Don’t put yourself in yoga box, runner box, spin class box, try to do 2-3 different ways of working out each week, lest that you end up at a Physical Evidence Chiropractic. As I do lots of yoga and Pilates, I’ve recently started doing some spin classes at Psycle London which you can read more about HERE.

I notice whenever joining a new fitness club, gym, class that there are people that literally go every single day! I’ve read on that there’s crazy folk out there that go to Barry’s Bootcamp twice a day sometimes! I don’t think it’s healthy to overtrain but understand that if you find something you love then you just want to do that and only that. So I’ve decided to do a little series with 5 best Pilates moves to incorporate if you are doing a certain type of training A LOT and don’t have time to get to a Pilates class too. This week with my own training in mind, I’m focusing on spinners/cyclists!

There are certain imbalances and weaknesses that cyclists can be prone to and a little bit of Pilates will be a great addition to your exercise regime to stop any set backs injury wise. Here’s my best 5 Pilates exercises for cyclists you can do after your session or at home to make you feel even more fabulous!

Hot Body ALL YEAR round and Video

Whether the sun is shining where you live or not, we all want a hot body right. I feel that lots of women need something to motivate a fitness routine or nutrition plan such as a bikini holiday, Christmas party, getting into a wedding dress or a New Year resolution but what if you can have a hot body all year round rather than fluctuating throughout the year then it wouldn’t be such hard work or stressful when it’s time to slip into that dress or strut your stuff at the beach! I’m not a fan of fad diets or even when people tell me they are going to kill themselves at the gym or restrict there calories for 6 weeks before an event. It doesn’t have to be be such hard work!

I’m lucky that I feel I’ve found a great healthy balance with regards to my lifestyle so that I don’t fluctuate in weight or body shape and I feel confident pretty much all year round. Here’s my top tips to having a hot healthy body 12 months a year!

Whether it be a run, intense interval session, Pilates/yoga class or a walk, I make sure I move my body every day. When I don’t move, I feel sluggish and stressed. Not only does moving every day keep you toned and flexible, I feel it gives you a great healthy glow which is another thing we want all year round! Keeping your body moving every day means your not starting from square one every time you want to get in shape. There might be times of the year when you want to up your fitness routine but don’t go from all to nothing or vice versa, keep moving every day!

I don’t like to restrict myself when it comes to my diet. My advice to maintain a healthy weight all year round is the 80/20% rule. Eat healthy clean nourishing foods 80% of the time but the other 20% treat yourself a little. Whether you’re craving chocolate or a glass of red wine, enjoy it! I believe this keeps your metabolism and your mind healthy and stops the tendency to binge/ over indulge. It’s unlikely that you are never going to eat a carb or grain of sugar again in your life so every thing in moderation is best.

Make your workout routine fun! I am a class fanatic. I love trying all the new fitness studios in London. I absolutely love yoga and pilates but recently tried Psycle which is a fun spin class similar to Soul Cycle in America and it killed me! I have now become hooked and it’s totally spiced up my workout routine. To keep fit and inspired to workout all year round, try new things! Maybe go for a swim one week, try a new dance class another week and get on youtube! Youtube is incredible for different workouts. Type in yoga one day, kettlebells another and tabata the next! ;) Check out my youtube channel Lifestyle with Lottie and I also love the Tone it Up Girls

Wellbeing Wednesday: My Top Every Day Stretches For A Healthy Body and Mind

Stretching can seem like a chore but a lot of people don’t understand the importance of it. If your priority is always to get a cardio, interval or a weight training session in because of time then let me tell you this could be where you could have been going wrong and stretching can change the way you approach your fitness forever! Your training will improve from regular stretching, your body will feel free of tension and be more capable to perform certain moves that may be required of you in workouts as well as in general everyday life. Regular stretching can prevent you from many problems in the future and especially with back pain. Chiropractors recommend stretching as a safe way to improve flexibility and mobility, navigate to this website to get more info.

Stretching will increase the range of movement at your joints, release tight muscles and keep connective tissue pliant creating balance in your body. Be careful stretching because it can caused pinched nerves, visit if you happen to have any nerve pain. This means lengthened and lean muscles and a healthy supple bod. The depressing effect of Klonopin at on the central nervous system is enhanced by all drugs with a similar effect: hypnotics (eg. barbiturates), drugs that reduce the blood pressure of the central action, neuroleptics, antidepressants, anticonvulsant drugs, narcotic analgesics. I also believe there is a relationship between a flexible mobile body and the mind. If you body is free of tension then so your mind will be.

I know it can be hard getting to an extra yoga or Pilates session so here are my favourite stretches that you can do at home easily to start or end your day. Hold each stretch for 20-30 secs and ease in and out of the stretch if it’s really uncomfortable. Do each one once a day and if you really want to see improvements in your flexibility then 2-3 times a day.

Stretch your way to a happier healthier body!

I Have A Phobia For Bikes And Cardio But Psycle Is For Me

I’m a firm believer that to create a healthy and sustainable lifestyle, when it comes to exercise you must enjoy it. I love my Pilates and Yoga but I really struggle with cardio. I’ve tried running, swimming, Personal training in London and once upon a time tried one spin class at a gym that left me feeling like I’d wasted 45 precious minutes of my life wheeling my legs around on a static metal bike. So let’s just say I have been a little skeptical when it comes to spin classes or shall we say intense workouts in general. I love flowing movements, a tranquil room and calm music…until NOW! Psycle is a spin studio in Oxford Circus that is gives you a high intensity full body workout on a bike with music and motivating instructors- similar to Soul Cycle in America.

After my first session, I felt like I’d somehow done a cardio workout, yoga session, weight session, meditated and gone to a night club to dance the night away all rolled into one. It was the best feeling, an addictive feeling! I wanted more! Now don’t get me wrong- during the session was a little different. I thought I was going to die! Although I do believe I now had one of the toughest instructors Rhian who is an inspiration to say the least.

I had been eager to try Psycle since the opening of the luxe bike studio earlier this year. I am so glad, I finally got around to going because Psycle slapped me around the face, kicked my butt and made me realize I need to do more of this type of exercise. Not only feel did I feel incredible after but want to get back on that bike again and again! Falling in love with fitness is the best feeling!

So what makes Psycle so bloody brilliant…

My Mat Moves class is a whole body conditioning class and incorporates Pilates exercises with traditional ballet barre exercises transferred to the mat. The class works deep intrinsic muscles that you never knew existed and aims to improve flexibility, posture and core stability to give you that long lean sculpted physique!

I was so excited to teach at the store as I love Lululemon’s activewear (I own 4 pairs of there leggings already- they are the best!) I was really looking forward to becoming part of Lululemon community especially as they are soon to be opening a new permanent store on the famous Long Arce.
