When luxury spa meets organic farm and beautiful yoga/pilates studio, I know I’ve found my second home. If you follow me on Instagram you may know that I am talking about Bamford Haybarn Spa at Daylesford Farm in the Cotwolds. Last week was my second trip there this year and it was even more dreamy than the first time. I’m actually pinching myself as I can’t believe I get to spend 3 more soul lifting days there throughout Summer and you lovely ones can join me too but more about that in a bit. First I’ll tell you more about why this place breathes wellness into your every cell plus watch my little vlog from my day showing what we ate, the gorgeous treatment rooms and gardens…
I get the train to Kingham from London Paddington to get to the spa and as soon as I arrive at Kingham, I feel my body already relaxing. It’s a cute little village and on my list to explore as they have the beautiful Wild Rabbit pub there which is a recommended place to stay if visiting the spa and can’t get into one of Daylesford’s pretty cottages. They book up fast!
The farm is big enough but not overwhelming and the Bamford Haybarn Spa sits along side it making it impossible not to stock up on organic broth, herb pots and Daylesford granola during a visit. My Pilates And Relaxation days will start with a juice in the Lavender room at the spa which looks out over the countryside. The 3 juices at Daylesford are B Vibrant, B Seasonal and B Balanced and be I love them all and already feel my glowy as I take my first sip.
This time I was so excited to try a deep tissue massage. After reviewing their website, I was pleased with their reviews and services. If I wasn’t feeling relaxed enough, as I sank into the massage bed, every worry and stress vanished, if only for an hour. The massage was amazing and I felt like the therapist really listened to my body and needs. She noticed that one side of my lower back was raised slightly which was due to my right hip really aching from doing extra running but as I write this I’m only just realising that my hip hasn’t hurt since the massage! Result! Regular Bamford massages is all I need then! I had chosen the energising oil just by smelling it which contained lemon, rosemary and cedar. The hour went too quickly and I floated back to the Lavender room for some tea.
Lunch is served after an indulgent browse around the Bamford shop, they create clothing, body and skincare products that are natural and artisan made. Lady Bamford really is an inspiring woman who I would love to meet one day. Next on my list to get is her fragrances which are actually called splashes and by splashing the fragrance on your body lightly you take in much less harmful chemicals then you would breath in from spritz around your neck. I’m also currently using Bamford hand cream, lip balm and face cream. All of which give me a big smile!
Lunch tastes just as delicious as it looks! Yes big bowls of green can taste incredible with the citrus asian dressings and peppering of nuts and seeds. I rarely eat chicken unless it’s organic and I know where it’s from so there was no stopping me here! Then why not layer some sparkling smoked salmon on there too! I was attempting to make my plate look Instagram worthy even as I piled it high. What’s better than healthy local buffet style food you can eat guilt free! Nothing I tell you! Yes I went back for a second plate. I’m so excited to share a table and this nutritious food with some of you for the days I’m hosting in the summer! I’m sure the sun will be shining too making the experience even more nourishing!
The Pilates and yoga space is so pure but also very welcoming. The incredible Vettri Selvan taught us a 45 minute yoga class focusing on gentle twists and stretches avoiding too much abdominal work as our belly’s were still a full from all the lunchtime goodness. It was simply perfect though and a fabulous way to end another magical day.
Some people might feel it’s a little far to travel for one day but I really don’t think so at all! The train is 1 and half hours from London and if not frantically emailing like I was reluctantly last week, I would suggest taking a good book and seeing the train as part of your day to relax, switch off from technology and even gaze out the window as the countryside rolls in.
So the countdown is on till my Pilates And Relaxation days here and the day will run similar to what I just described but you will also get Q&A time with me over lunch and VIP shopping experience in the Bamford shop- hands up for a bit retail therapy! See full schedule below plus details to book.
