Christmas can be a little overwhelming and stressful, our social diaries get full up and any spare time gets consumed with worrying about what presents to buy or queuing at Post Offices for online deliveries. Me time is hard enough any time of year but near impossible at Christmas right? Well this is when it is most important! It is very difficult to be patient and kind to yourself and others when you are constantly stressed and on the go. You must fill yourself up first before giving to others and if you do this then your positive energy will spread and your relationships with friends and family will blossom, which is just what we want during this festive time!
I know that if I take some me time, my mood enhances, I have a better sense of humour, I’m more productive and happier. It makes me feel less stressed and I’m a better person inside and out. I was searching for ways to allow me to get more me time and was so excited to discover Doddle.
Doddle is a parcel delivery firm which is such a “doddle” to use! I love Christmas but I also tend to stress and worry about small things so anything that makes life less stressful at Christmas is amazing. Doddle does just that! As a Pilates instructor and holistic health coach, I’m honoured to be part of the #DoddleSaysRelax campaign that is encouraging people to relax and take more me time. Stress affects all of us in different ways, it’s so important to find ways to reduce the stress in your life. I love that Doddle can help people do that as the time saved using the service goes back to you to concentrate on yourself and well-being in the busy lead up to Christmas.
This week, I was with Doddle at Kings Cross station taking commuters through a Pilates class to help them breathe, relax and de stress. 20 minutes of movement a day is sometimes all you need to reset and feel great again. The Doddle relax lounge also had stress balls, comfy bean bags, laughing yoga and a silent disco.
So the way Doddle works is simple. You sign up and create an account to get a unique Doddle ID. This means you can shop anywhere online and put in your name and Doddle ID followed by the address of your most convenient Doddle shop. As soon as your parcel arrives you’ll be sent a text or email with a collection code or barcode. Bring them to your Doddle shop with some ID, most Doddle’s are open early hours till 8pm which is great if you’re out for Christmas drinks or a late post work Pilates class, and then collect your parcel on your way home.
I recently used Doddle to order some me time essentials from Amazon, Amazon is also one of Doddle’s partners and it’s even easier when you’re shopping with one of the partners as you just look for Doddle in the checkout. I decided with the time I’m going to get back from using Doddle, I would create my perfect hour of me time. Of course, me time is so individual and the idea is that you do whatever brings you joy, de stresses you and makes you feel positive.
For me, I like to be cosy and warm at home in a nice calm environment during me time so I ordered some new fresh soft brushed cotton bed linen in red checked for Christmas. There’s nothing more cosy then fresh clean bed linen. A decluttered tidy space is so important for me. It’s then all about creating an atmosphere so I ordered some stress relief aromatherapy incense sticks which filled the room with scents of lavender, orange blossom and thyme, great for clearing the mind and relieving stress. Reading is my favourite me time activity but one that I rarely get to do so I got myself a new book called One Moment, One Morning which I then delved into for an hour of bliss.
What does your perfect hour of me time look like? Try Doddle this year to take the stress out of Christmas.
