I live a health conscious lifestyle and have done for many years now and my approach is very holistic; I strongly believe in the balance between body mind and spirit. When they aren’t in balance things don’t flow smoothly and I simply don’t feel well. This is something I’ve become much more aware of in the last year. Sometimes the day flows smoothly, I wake up and feel motivated, productive and calm. Other days when things don’t run as smoothly and I constantly feel distracted; there’s a few things I do to feel more balanced and in the flow again. It might be that I’m overwhelmed with work or rushing from A to B and this is when there’s nothing I love more than to get home switch the world out and find that inner balance again. When I start to feel stress building up, I know I need to simplify life. I close all my tabs, shut my laptop down, unload my rucksack, have a shower and then there’s nothing more I love doing to feel refreshed than enjoying an aromatic brew of tea and get my body moving…

I love Autumn but I think it’s a time we can sometimes feel a bit of of wack with no clear focus and direction. Summer and September seemed to have whizzed by and we are now heading towards Christmas and the new year but not quite at the exciting countdown part yet. There’s still so much of this year to go yet where we can stay motivated and productive, It’s not too late to set goals, take care of yourself and feel incredible for these last few months of the year. I’ve taken on some fitness health challenges of my own but Pilates is my bread and butter and my go to way of moving when I’m feeling a little out of balance. I’ve been a Pilates teacher for over 4 years now and have seen a lot of different bodies and every body is different. I teach beginners to Pilates, beginners to movement in general, dancers, athletes, other Pilates teachers, people with injuries, elderly people and the list goes on and every one needs different levels and exercises to feel challenged and to help their own body improve and feel more balanced however the one thing everyone can benefit from no matter what level they are at is the Pilates fundamentals.

A Day In The Life

Like lots us today, I have many different hats to wear when we comes to my “job”, putting that in quotation marks because I don’t see myself as even having a proper job. I have a life and a career and the two are very much entwined. I’m all about work/life balance and as a Pilates instructor and lifestyle blogger, there’s definitely no 9-5 or even Monday to Friday work week. I might be teaching, organizing events and retreats, writing, shooting, reviewing restaurants, attending a press launch, meeting brands and photographers, researching, travelling and within that I love working out, cooking, seeing my friends etc, so a day in the life doesn’t really exist but a typical day might look something like this.

Last week I was lucky enough to teach perhaps one of my favourite classes to date as a Pilates Instructor. It was at The Honest Garden which was a little pop up on the Southbank for Honest Tea which are a super yummy organic cold tea brand. They have launched three new flavours including my favourite lemon and honey (I mix it with spirulina at home which is so much nicer than water.) It was one of the most beautiful days in London last Friday, blue skies, a speckle of clouds, very warm, a light breeze and all at 7am!! It wasn’t cold at all! We overlooked the Thames and St Paul’s and got down to practice on our mats.

The true secret of happiness lies in taking genuine interest in all the details of daily life. I’ve always wondered why I enjoy watching vlogs, filming my little vlogs and editing them so much and I think that quote sums it up. I admit I love watching my faves on youtube go about their daily lives, seeing what they eat and just pottering around really. Some of my faves include Louise Roe, Niomi Smart, The Anna Edit, Carly Rowena and Venetia Falconer. It’s actually quite lovely that we can find such interest in the details of our daily lives. With Pilates Comes Connection and Truth…AND your Summer Body

I fell in love with Pilates as a 16 year old ballet dancer at Central School of Ballet, we’d have an hour ballet class every week but I loved how it made me feel so much that I did my own hour practice before a 6-8 hour day of training and rehearsing. I wasn’t a natural ballerina, I didn’t have a high arched foot or natural turnout but what I did have was discipline and passion and I worked my butt off. Because physical fitness is movement and movement is body, mind and spirit connection whether you’re running, doing Pilates, dancing or breathing. I believe that the mind, body and spirit are connected and can’t be separated. Sometimes I’m conscious of that relationship and sometimes I’m not but it’s always connected…
