We are well and truly into Summer now as the school holidays are here. Whether you’re a working mum, studying or don’t even have a clue the kids are on that 6 week break thing again; change is sometimes just as good as a rest so why not change up your fitness routine and try some Pilates this week. I’ve teamed up with Primark to bring you a Summer Pilates routine for the ultimate full body workout…

Create Your Own Honest Garden Pilates Sanctuary

Last week I was lucky enough to teach perhaps one of my favourite classes to date as a Pilates Instructor. It was at The Honest Garden which was a little pop up on the Southbank for Honest Tea which are a super yummy organic cold tea brand. They have launched three new flavours including my favourite lemon and honey (I mix it with spirulina at home which is so much nicer than water.) It was one of the most beautiful days in London last Friday, blue skies, a speckle of clouds, very warm, a light breeze and all at 7am!! It wasn’t cold at all! We overlooked the Thames and St Paul’s and got down to practice on our mats.

A WEEKLY VLOG | London Life, What Matters To You and Vegan Cheese!

The true secret of happiness lies in taking genuine interest in all the details of daily life. I’ve always wondered why I enjoy watching vlogs, filming my little vlogs and editing them so much and I think that quote sums it up. I admit I love watching my faves on youtube go about their daily lives, seeing what they eat and just pottering around really. Some of my faves include Louise Roe, Niomi Smart, The Anna Edit, Carly Rowena and Venetia Falconer. It’s actually quite lovely that we can find such interest in the details of our daily lives. So without further a do, I was inspired to vlog again. This week involved lots of lovely Pilates classes, teaching a press event for the Sainsburys My Hair Matters launch, lots of sunshine, a trip to the theatre, a girly sleepover and what’s in my cupboards…

I have two new Pilates workouts for you. Both short and sweet so combine them or add on to any other workout you’re doing this week like running or yoga. I’ve just got back from teaching on a retreat where we combined yoga and Pilates and I love how the two work so well together. Try these Pilates routines before your next yoga class and see if you notice the difference. You can do these workouts morning, lunch or evening to build body awareness, strengthen, tone and to feel that Pilates mind body connection…

With Pilates Comes Connection and Truth…AND your Summer Body

I fell in love with Pilates as a 16 year old ballet dancer at Central School of Ballet, we’d have an hour ballet class every week but I loved how it made me feel so much that I did my own hour practice before a 6-8 hour day of training and rehearsing. I wasn’t a natural ballerina, I didn’t have a high arched foot or natural turnout but what I did have was discipline and passion and I worked my butt off. I honestly believe with these things and a little bit of self belief you can achieve anything you want and I did that, I got some great roles and even won the Ballet Central cup at the end of my third year but it came at a cost for me and I wasn’t truly happy…

Because It Makes Me Feel Something And That Is All

“Physical fitness is the first requisite of happiness!” Joseph H. Pilates. An interesting quote that at first I didn’t like because I thought there’s so many other ways one can gain happiness but the more I think about it the more I believe Joseph Pilates may have been on to something. Because physical fitness is movement and movement is body, mind and spirit connection whether you’re running, doing Pilates, dancing or breathing. I believe that the mind, body and spirit are connected and can’t be separated. Sometimes I’m conscious of that relationship and sometimes I’m not but it’s always connected…

The Every Day Pilates Routine To Feel Amazing

lottie murphy pilates routinePilates isn’t just about looking good for me, it’s about feeling good and this is exactly what made me fall in love with it when I was at ballet school. My clients still say to me all the time how much better they feel after their sessions and it’s that feeling that you sometimes can’t even describe, you just feel lovely in your body and mind after a Pilates class. I try to encourage my clients to do a little Pilates routine every day as a little a day keeps the pains away (hehe); it also sets me up for a fabulous day ahead.
