Realistic Morning Routine Goals For Summer

nikeepicreact sardinia, nikerunners, lottiemurphyblog, lifestyleblog, fitnessblog

I’m such a morning person in the Summer. The fact it gets light before 6am helps me feel energised and I usually can’t wait to start the day. Sometimes I love to have lazy mornings with breakfast in bed, reading and the curtains pulled open so the sunshine is coming through but I also love to start my day with early morning movement a few times a week. I caught up with you back in March pre my 10k run in Greenwich park and how I was getting motivated to run in Spring, read the post here, so I thought I’d update you on my running goals and my new Summer morning routine plan.

My Mum, the perfect example of a “non runner” perhaps even “non mover” at one stage set a goal to complete the couch to 5k last year and she did it. I hate to say that as though I’m surprised but she hasn’t really stuck to something fitness related ever. She stuck to the guidelines and schedule even during our family holiday in Portugal. Mum even continued to get her trainers on post the set 9 weeks and I went to a couple of Saturday morning 5k park runs with her near our home and it made me so proud seeing my mum cross the finish line. Since then, we’ve had a chat and realised that she needs a focus and new challenges to keep her motivated. Post Christmas she completed Race At Your Pace, receiving a little medal through the post as a sign of how she’s improved her fitness. After taking on my first fitness challenge last year and cycling 45 miles for the Princes Trust Palace To Palace Race and seeing Mum’s motivation recently I decided it’s time I signed up to a running challenge.

My Current Fitness Routine And Goals

We are half way through February and I thought I’d talk a little bit about my personal fitness routine, goals and how I stay motivated. I have some weeks where I’m less active than others usually the week before my period or when I’m travelling but I feel like I have been quite consistently motivated for the past 6 months due to a few reasons like finding more routine, having buddies to workout with and getting to know my optimal time to workout. There’s still things I’d like to improve which I’ll talk about too.

There’s Blue Sky Above The Clouds, Why I Love January

joules activewear lottie murphy blogger fitness motivation postIt was dark grey and rainy when I looked out my window at 7:30am this morning on apparently the “most depressing day of the year.” My bedroom floor however had a pop of pink colour and petal print from the Joules activewear I’d laid out the last night before and nothing was going to stop me from heading out for a run to start my birthday week feeling fresh. You see my birthday always falls on the third week of January when the odds are slightly against us all when it comes to feeling on top form but this year has felt slightly different…

Autumn Renew Pilates Routine

I love Autumn but I think it’s a time we can sometimes feel a bit of of wack with no clear focus and direction. Summer and September seemed to have whizzed by and we are now heading towards Christmas and the new year but not quite at the exciting countdown part yet. There’s still so much of this year to go yet where we can stay motivated and productive, It’s not too late to set goals, take care of yourself and feel incredible for these last few months of the year. I’ve taken on some fitness health challenges of my own but Pilates is my bread and butter and my go to way of moving when I’m feeling a little out of balance. So take 10, refocus and join me in this Autumn Renew Pilates Routine…

My First Fitness Challenge + Cherry Bakewell Slice Recipe

So this time next week I’ll be setting out on a 45 miles bike ride from Buckingham Palace to Windsor Castle. It’s for the Princes Trust #Palace2Palace charity bike ride and when I first signed up in January, the 1st October seemed like very long long way away. I haven’t had a bike since I was 7 and have never even thought I’d be an adult that rides a bike on an actual road that has cars and buses and roundabouts on it but here I am in 2017 with a proper bike, quite a few road miles in the bag and about to embark on my first charity cycle challenge…

Pilates Fundamentals Routine For Everyone

I’ve been a Pilates teacher for over 4 years now and have seen a lot of different bodies and every body is different. I teach beginners to Pilates, beginners to movement in general, dancers, athletes, other Pilates teachers, people with injuries, elderly people and the list goes on and every one needs different levels and exercises to feel challenged and to help their own body improve and feel more balanced however the one thing everyone can benefit from no matter what level they are at is the Pilates fundamentals.

If you follow me on Instagram you may know that I’m currently on a holiday atm with my best girlies. Emily and I are so used to moving our bodies every day with Pilates and yoga, walking around London teaching and attending classes and we had every intention of starting the day with movement while away. Sometimes too many sangrias and the comfiest beds ever change intentions but something about Monday morning kick started us today.

Create Your Own Honest Garden Pilates Sanctuary

Last week I was lucky enough to teach perhaps one of my favourite classes to date as a Pilates Instructor. It was at The Honest Garden which was a little pop up on the Southbank for Honest Tea which are a super yummy organic cold tea brand. They have launched three new flavours including my favourite lemon and honey (I mix it with spirulina at home which is so much nicer than water.) It was one of the most beautiful days in London last Friday, blue skies, a speckle of clouds, very warm, a light breeze and all at 7am!! It wasn’t cold at all! We overlooked the Thames and St Paul’s and got down to practice on our mats.
